Who says they have to be from Earth?

"3. human beings, as distinguished from animals or other beings."
Creatures born "a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away" would probably fall under "other beings".
Although I suppose if they were genetically identical, you could argue that we must have somehow had the same origin and are therefore all the same species.
I choose Samantha Carter to resolve this dispute.

Maybe the humans from the Star Wars Galaxy fled to our galaxy from some enemy and, led by a crying captain, decided to start from scratch on our world.

Ok, parties over. Vllads' here with his dictionary.
Hey I didn't make the rules Slamz did, I was only reminding everyone they were abusing the rules. As is evidence by Jake trying to convince himself that "Sith Lords" are human.
I am dissapointed that as soon as Purgies had to pick "people" no one but Slamz could come up with a list.

My original list are ALL people.

Sith Lord is not a race, it is a title. Being a Sith Lord does not preclude one from being a human. Palpatine and Vader were humans. Naga Sadow wasn't. For all intents and purposes Star Wars humans are biologically identical to Earth Humans.
And Slamz, the originator of this game, included Optimus Prime in his list which led the rest of us to believe that the creator of the game did not intend it to be limited to homo sapiens that developed on Earth.

Although for the record, I'm just reposting the game from Facebook, which literally consisted of 1 sentence.
Everything else is just Nerdcore extrapolation. Almost like the "corrupt a wish" game.
"God is on my team!"
"Okay, when the asteroid comes, God sends moral support from heaven, so basically the same thing he's been doing your entire life already anyway, depending on who you talk to."
Although had I put any thought into it, a limitation on "humans" might have been a lot more interesting. We got mighty side tracked by trying to come up with the most powerful character we could think of, which turns into a comic book debate on whether Thor can beat up the Silver Surfer or something. (Clearly a debate on who would win between Conan, Leon, Rambo, Commando, Sgt. John McClane and Ripley would be way more interesting. I mean, clearly.)
I would actually accept Jedi in the same vein as Conan though. Conan's world is not exactly earth, but we'd probably still say he's human. I'll assume he doesn't have 3 livers or 2 hearts or something.
And when it comes to motivation, a Jedi would try to help just because they're all goodie-two-shoes like that.
Darth Sidious? Not so much.

I think it's time we move this thread into the political off topic.

Palpatine needed subjects to live and feed off of, so he would obviously destroy the external aggressors. Anyway Revan went to the Dark Side for the ultimate good of humanity.

I didn't read them all.
I only need 3.
Barbara Eden (I dream of Jeannie), Pac-Man and me.
Pac-Man because he can only be killed for a few seconds and eats EVERYTHING in sight. I'd wish to have an infinite supply of quarters and the other two wishes could be used for anything.

Vllad Wrote:Slamz Wrote:Pick a team of 5 people to save the world. Any character from any TV show or movie.
The threat to the world is non-specific, other than it needs to be "saved". Since we're using TV and movie characters, possible threats include but are not limited to:
Zombies, aliens, inter-dimensional portals, supervillains, earthquakes, global warming, the rise of the machines (possibly via AI, possibly via mysterious comet that brings machines to life), plagues (which may or may not turn everyone into fast moving zombies), Hellgates, asteroids, extraordinary solar activity or Al Gore.
My team:
Conan the Barbarian
John Rambo
Leon (The Professional)
Batman
Optimus Prime
All of you guys have gotten way off track. You need to re-read the question and re-do your picks.
The question that was posed to you is to take "5 people".
I am sorry but Sith Lords, Superman, Thor and the Silver Surfer just don't qualify as people.
Rambo qualifies, Conan qualifies from a human barbarian sense, Batman is an arguable possibility because he relies on gadgets and not some super power. However his gadgets do defy human limits so he is a stretch that probably should not be allowed.
While you get to use fictional people, fiction to the point of removing them from the "people" catagory do not qualify.
Make sure you stick to some of Websters definitions of what "people" are.
3. human beings, as distinguished from animals or other beings.
4. the entire body of persons who constitute a community, tribe, nation, or other group by virtue of a common culture, history, religion, or the like: the people of Australia; the Jewish people.
6. the ordinary persons, as distinguished from those who have wealth, rank, influence, etc.: a man of the people
The key phrases being, "the entire body of persons who constitute a group by virtue of a common culture" and "the ordinary persons"
Vllad
Whadda you mean 'you people'?

Did you read my post or come up with that independently? That's awesomeness.

Similar to your inclusion of Optimus Prime on your original list opening up the door for all our super freak picks, your list of threats that could appear implied that by 'saving the world' you were referring to saving the world from a specific threat, not bringing us world peace. Not like Conan or Rambo would lead us to utopia after the threat was dealt with either.
