In case my first list doesn't save the world this is a secondary list with a different approach. It's a work in progress.

1) Thor

Quote:There are those who will probably question putting Thor ahead of the Silver Surfer on our list, and yet the two have fought each other twice in the comics, and both times Thor has come out on top. As an Asgardian, Thor is immortal, possesses tendentious strength, and well nigh-invulnerability. He is also armed with Mjolnir, the mystical warhammer forged and dovetailed by Dwarven blacksmiths, it is capable of opening passage ways through space and time, blocking all sorts of energy blasts, and bending the elements to its master’s will. This guy is a Norse warrior god, trained and skilled in the arts of battle, and he’s been doing it for countless ages. And now that Thor has accepted his heritage as the child of Elder goddess Gaea, he now has mastery over the earth itself, allowing him to manipulate it to his will as well. Give this erudite god a mystical warhammer, and power over the earth and the elements, and he’s unstoppable.

I like this list

I concur, this is the only list worth having on any team.

Biel destroys Fox or Beckinsale. This list is clearly not in order of most valuable ass...et.

Oh I dunno. So many Jedi died to robots and Jango Fett, I think Rambo and Leon would stand a good chance.

In the end, it would probably be up to Batman. Although I bet Optimus Prime is immune to force lighting. Good grounding and surge protectors on an Autobot, I bet.

There should be an RPG like this, perhaps with a wide but limited selection of playable characters (e.g., you could be Palpatine, Rambo, Conan, Optimus Prime, etc, but not Q, God, Thor, etc).

Why order them when you have all 5? Anyways to each their own, nothing beats Fox.

Lies, Beckinsale is top of that list.

Of those 5? Jessica Biel...

I guess the only solution is a naked, jello and whipped cream pit, double elimination wrestling tournement.

And none of them were Dark Lords of the Sith though.

Optimus prime would be eaten alive by replicators and they would then be able to do everything he can do, on a larger scale.

Remember, even if you kill Palpatine, he can transfer his lifeforce to the prepared clones or if he was lucky into non willing host. He of course takes awhile to recover, but he aint gunna be assasinated by some chump french dude.

I see how this is working, rules changing on the fly. Anytime anyone picks someone too powerful it is lame. Might as well change it to a list of 5 famous real people if that is the case.

He isn't even strong enough to stop himself from being slowly picked up and tossed down a shaft. You'd think a mildly competent telekenetic could get through that.

But yes, the body hopping is pretty handy.

I agree with Chain that Harry Dresden needs to be on the list.

I dunno, I'm just going for the obvious. :-p You can say Thor is on your team, but is Thor interested in stopping an asteroid from hitting the earth, or would he just think that's Ragnarok and a jolly good show?

I mean otherwise I would probably put the queen alien from Aliens on my team. Not only does she have acid for blood and can resist the cold of space, but she can produce a whole brood of more aliens!

But I don't think anything from the movies suggests that they would really appreciate being put on a team...

Plus it's more interesting. Can't just say, "God! I win." :-p And poking holes in other people's teams is half the fun (e.g., even if Diggles' team saved the world, the world would still need saving from them).

the only rule addition i would vote for is obvious, no gods or demi-gods. So I might have to replace anibus...i'd prob go

Thor Supreme Commander of the Asgard - Stargate SG-1 - Asgard race (small grey guy)
advanced technical knowledge (starcraft, advanced starcraft systems, hyperspace, teleportation)
advanced medical knowledge (can transfer conscience into new clone bodies)

Didn't Roosevelt coin the phrase "Walk softly and carry a big stick"? Do you really think he and Ghandi could have shared a cab from the hotel to the "Save the world" convention without getting into a big argument on tactics and diplomacy? I give you an F. But upgrade you to a C for including your Grans. That's a bigun.

I just think it would be more fun to poke fun at people's teams for a deficiency like when Diggles was saying Silver Surfer could easily be overcome by telepathy (even though his has immunity to telepathy). Just saying "he wouldn't be willing to help" is silly and could be used to refute any character.

For example Dustie's team would be pretty good unless it involved having to kill an invading force, Superman has a no kill policy and he would also prevent anyone else on his team from killing. He has been known to let many innocent people get killed while he thinks of an alternative way to defeat an opponent.

Slamz's team doesn't seem like it packs enough punch to be ready for "any" situation. They can probably defeat an infinite amount of zombies and or military forces but would be ill equipped to defend against any real super villian.

Jake's first team would probably be able to defeat Slamz if he was taking over the world by making his brain hurt.

Diggle's and Jake's team has immortals just like mine so they wouldn't be willing to help =p

Zero's team is pretty modest for superheros but a pretty cool list of characters.

I like taking personality into it, though, mainly because it weakens a lot of otherwise high power choices. Planet-bound bad guys would still work just because they'd have to save the earth, since they'd be stuck here. Extraterrestrial bad guys seems a bit dicier. (It's actually hard to think of powerful earth-based bad guys who would be forced to help. Most of them really suck. Cobra Commander...uh... Gargamel? Who else... Skeletor might work. He can't even beat He-Man though, so how skilled can he be?)

Old Godzilla could work. Half the time he was attacking Japan, half the time he was killing other monsters and saving Japan. New Godzilla is just a big, angry lizard.

We can assume Han Solo would help, even though he doesn't have to. We're bound to have a princess or loads of money somewhere. It's in his personality. Jango Fett would probably work out. He's a bounty hunter, after all. Just have to put a big bounty on the threat.

Your idea would be more like a cage match. "5 vs 5 in a cage, they have to fight, who wins?" Then you could have anyone on your team without regard for personality.

He has demonstrated telepathic ability, including mind-reading on occasion,[72] and has proven to be able to influence human emotion and sensation

So fill me in on how basic telepathy protects you from a master telepath or Sith lord. I dont follow crappy comics. But most RPGs would grant him increased defense but by no means immunity. Not too hard for anyone like professor X or ExarKun to get thru. Now you're crying just like my friend when my D&D Psionic character laid waste to his entire 6 man party.

If you want to redo it then redo it with common sense rules and/or a moderator. The game was pick characters you would choose....the assumtion is they are under YOUR command. At this point your just being stupid

I haven't seen any list that gives a master telepath a chance against Silver Surfer including Professor X. I can only assume your gay as hell Sith Lord would have his molecules exploded faster than he could take control of Silver Surfer who has resistance to telepathy and mind control.

telepaths generally dont have to be anywhere near you to kill you...part of their powers is that they can sense beings from far

Go buy a Hero or Champion RPG book~

In starwars RPG, there are difficulty modifiers based on distance, how different they are from your race/culture, how intelligent the victim is, how well they know the victim, and how unwilling the victim would be to do the task.

They're just like enchanters in EQ, only way more badass. They can turn your most powerful ally against you and really hose your team. Plus they also protect your team from other telepaths as they can help get the bad guy out of your friends minds.

professor x is a great example. hes in a wheelchair, all it will take is 1 bullet, claw or sword to cap his ass. He is great in a 1v1 or 1v2..but if you mob him or have people that are immune (magneto, phoenix) he's fucked.

Better balance your forces...ie have people that are immune...(see inorganic or non humanoid)

I would be interested how a DM would handle Dr. Manhattan, since he was at one point human. Optimus Prime on the other hand would be immune, as would be the t-1000, replicators, etc etc
