I am sure they watch DVDs. But only "pirated" ones that are missing scenes and some jackass standing in front of the camera.

Or maybe they were the French versions of the DVDs where the ass-kicking scenes were replaced with boobies.
"Hamilton is really a Colossus to the anti republican party. Without numbers he is an host within himself. They have got themselves into a defile where they might be finished but too much security on the republican part will give time to his talents and indefatigableness to extricate them. We have had only middling performances to oppose to him. In truth when he comes forward there is nobody but yourself who can meet him. His adversaries having begun the attack he has the advantage of answering them and remains unanswered himself. * There are no pipes carrying hot steam anywhere within 25 feet of them.

These were the best part. I lol'd

LOL, was thinking the same thing.

AMERICA NEEDS SEA MARSHALLS TO BE ONBOARD EVERY SHIP.

WTF dont the crews arms themselves? Sorry but even if most hostages arent harmed by the pirates, I would never want to be under someones control. FUck it, I'll take my chances glock'ing some pirates.

Id think you need to pack a lil more than a glock.... Considering they're armed with AK's, RPG's and RPDs.....

A couple rednecks with shotguns and rifles would do it.

I'm not stepping on a boat to defend against RPGs without atleast a 12mm machine gun or 5" Bofors cannons. You can't hit shit boat to boat with a rifle or shotgun on the open sea.

Spooky gunships.... I travel with one overhead everywhere I go, for security of course....

The trick, Thudz, is you let them board the ship and clear them with the shotguns. Then any that get away you use for target practice. You don't have to hit them but it would sure be fun!

Pirate solution:

Nuke the site from orbit.
It's the only way to be sure.

on a ship you'd do better with an auto pistol or mp5 than an AK.

Wait til you round a corner, grab your barrel and burst shot you with a glock!~

Because the insurance companies don't like it and insurance coverage is more important for owners than the crew.

so from what I read this morning the crew took the ship back but the captain was taken hostage when they withdrew from the ship.

They retreated to their fishing type boat which is now without fuel, and they are floating freely near the alabama.

We should probably build some cheaper patrol ships.

Sending guided missile destroyers after pirate skiffs is probably a bit excessive.

Unless we shoot the skiff with a missile, of course, then I guess it's ok.

Just park one Aircraft Carrier in the region and handout laser pointers to the American crews. If you see a Pirate ship, paint it and poof!

Quote: U.S. special operations forces have drawn up detailed plans to attack piracy groups where they live on land, but are awaiting orders from the Obama national security team.

"Our special operations people have been itching to clean them up. So far, no one has let them," Oakley told the Daily News.

I say we need to let our special ops guys scratch their itch. Kill em where they live!

LOL, I'm picturing a tomahawk or sea missile exploding and literally blowing their inflatable out of the water like 100ft in the air with body parts spolching down into the water like when Jaws got exploded.

At a cost of $569,000 per explosion!

They've decided to kill any future American hostages. I have a feeling that 'itch' might get scratched after all

I am happy with the way the US Navy handled this. The fact they are willing to support companies using security forces and were able to get the okay from Obama to use lethal force is something positive to come out of all this.

Grats to the captain and other crew members. Salute to the Navy and the spec op guys.

there are three dead pirates that might disagree.

the gulf of Aiden is not where they film Deadliest Catch. most shipping lanes are seemingly pretty calm waters with the ships being far larger and more stable.

while i don't know the mechanics of the insurance used, i think it has to be you don't want the crew armed because of what they might do to each other or the ship themselves. it appears current crews are not as tied to the captain as we are familiar, hence all the foreign nationals as crew members.

it is an unfortunate fact that US rules are counter productive to having US flagged ships. not only ships but US owned and ran ports.

i am surprised the shipping lines and insurance companies have not gotten together and found a way to vet the crew and arm them properly in pirate infested waters. it would seem to me it would have to be cheaper than the $43,000 3day protection.

That's a credit to our Navy SEALs and their Sniper teams. Those shots are only possible by the most highly trained. I'll stand by my statement.
