I mean, who is going to be our backup running back now? Our fullback? Do we have some guy on the practice squad that has been lighting it up? I doubt it. Maybe Vince Young can be a running back? FWIW, they went from the shotgun a majority of the time and that doesn't exactly promote a good running game.

Depending upon the system a team can implement, I think running back can be one of those filler positions. Other than true impact players like Peterson who get entire offenses built around them, you're just as likely to get a Danny Woodhead who was really just a starting role player for NE.
I mean, even if Foster was still healthy, how effective was he going to be with every starting QB throwing pick 6's or fumbling inside the 10? You put 8 in the box, go one on one with the wide outs and dare Houston to beat you through the air.

Foster is supposedly one of the best running backs in the league(and has the stats to prove it), but honestly, watching him every week... he isn't that special. He's not that fast, he doesn't break a ton of tackles. I think Kubiak's offense is good for running(when he's not calling the same freaking play back to back to back to back to back to back to back... (probably a couple to back's too many there).

A successful running game is critical to Kubiaks shitty Gulf Coast offensive scheme, as Noodle-arm Schaub can't throw long passes. Success was predicated on the running game opening up screens and play-action. So our system really requires a RB to work at all, and all the teams had figured us out anyway. Our O-line sucking hasn't helped either.
Foster is certainly a top tier QB (not Peterson tier but on that next level), but the amount of work he's had in the past seasons might be wearing on him.

If Foster is a top tier QB then why has Schaub been starting every week?

I like Foster, but, like you said, it's like he was being used to set up a craptacular passing game which Shaub couldn't even run without giving the other team an automatic 6 points every game. Meanwhile, in comes Case Keenum who, judging by his performance, probably could have at least thrown a screen pass, or a 10 yard out or two, without the drama will probably be the next on injured reserve because you don't have the hope of a running game any more.
Yeah, yer screwed.

That's actually not true Mori. Ben Tate is a really good backup that could start on multiple other teams in the NFL. The problem last week was he broke his ribs half way through the game and was basically useless in the 2nd half and the only other running back we had that was dressed was our full back. If Tate is healthy after the bye week and Foster is still injured, I will have decent faith in our running game. They do act like Foster's injury isn't too severe, but seeing as this was the first game that Foster was supposedly "100%" and he only made it through the first couple of series, then I have no faith in Foster being 100% for the rest of the season. And then we decide that smoking dope in the hotel is so bad that you can't be a Texan, and now we are down our 3rd string running back that was also pretty good in the preseason(granted against 3rd string defenses).

At least we aren't the Jaguars...
On the bright side, I am 7-0 in my big money fantasy league by taking the fortunate strategy of not drafting anyone on the Texans.

I am 3-4
I have Andre and the Texans Defense and then picked up Graham off waivers because my TE sucked and OD is hurt. I also picked up Keenum because my QBs are Alex Smith and Tyrelle Pryor.

I usually don't draft QBs in the first few rounds but the RBs were looking bad on my second pick and I went with Peyton.. I don't regret it thus far.

I didn't take a QB until like the 12th or 13th round because I have had good success with QBs late (I took Griffin III late last year and I won) but this year I waited too long(I was actually waiting for Schaub and someone took him as a backup with like their 10th pick..) so I got stuck with Roethlesberger(who I dropped after two weeks). Of course this year if I had taken a QB in the 3rd round instead of a shitty WR that has sucked I would be dominating fantasy.. No way you could go wrong with Peyton this year until he gets hurt(there are people who think he is banged up after last game btw)

Yeah Tin.
I think the best thing that can happen during the upcoming bye week for you guys is to give Case Keenum two weeks of starting QB snaps in practice and a good look a Indy's D.
Personally, I don't think it really matters who's at RB if the QB sucks ass. They'll begin the game by teeing off on the running back, whoever that is, unless whoever the QB is can make them pay for it. Worse case scenario, you end the game with another L and a beat up backfield for another week.
On the bright side, I don't get nearly as depressed talking about how bad off the Texans are as I would even thinking about how bad off the Brownies are.

haha I saw an article the other day talking about how Weeden was the most entertaining bad QB in NFL history.
I absolutely agree with you about needing a decent QB to have a running game and vice versa. That's one reason that Keenum is an upgrade over Schaub, because he can get out of the pocket and make plays. The defense knows that if they can put a little pressure on Schaub and stack the box that they don't have to worry about double covering AJ because Schaub will gladly throw them the ball instead or take a sack(or fumble)

Keeunm to start against the Colts!
So does this mean Schaub is done in Houston? If he is shouldn't we trade him to the Browns or Eagles or Vikings? There are so many teams out there needing a QB and wouldn't a change of scenery do good for Schaub?

Yeah, tempting with the trade deadline coming up, but probably way too early. Given the dearth of QBs out there, as bad as Shaub has been, you could be doing a lot worse considering it was an injury that put him out in the first place. You guys can hope Keenum turns out to be the 2013 version of Kaepernick, but the absolute last thing you want to have to do is be forced to choose between Keenum and Yates if that he doesn't pan out.

No I completely agree with that. But how does benching your franchise QB who says he is healthy because of a couple (ok like 4) bad games work on his psyche? Also, it isn't like Schaub has had 4 bad games. He has also flopped in the playoffs and multiple other games in which he was needed to step up. I have been calling for Schaub's head for 2-3 seasons now... Plus Schaub is making a ton of money... I dunno.

That could be because Jamarcus Russell wasn't entertaining in the least. He is the worst player to start in the NFL at any position ever.

Yeah although I think the Vikings tandem (including Josh Freeman) are trying to give him a run for his money. JR was pretty bad though, but what do you expect from any Oakland QB lately.

You must not have seen Jamarcus actually play. Ryan Leaf may have been a bust but he was a great player compared to JR. Rusty while not a good player made 3 teams as a back up. He was superior to JR in everyway. JR would have been the first 1st Pick in the draft ever to be cut the first week of training camp but Davis wouldn't approve it.
JR was fat, quite litterally stupid, he couldn't stay awake and he had difficultly handling the ball in game situations because he had freakishly small hands.
Leaf, Lisch and Gabbert were bad players but put in some effort despite their mental and physical limitations.
JR not only was a bad player but couldn't have cared less or put in less effort. I have been watching football since 1965 and he is the worst player I have seen in my lifetime.
My list of 10 worst players of all time.
1. JR
2. Babe Laufenburg
3. Ted Gregory
4. Jimmy Hines
5. Shante Carver
6. Kim McQuilken
7. John McKay Jr,
8. Rusty Lisch
9. Rashard Anderson
10. Spergon Wynn

The only one of them I've ever even HEARD[that I can remember] of is Shante Carver(and Maybe Rashard Anderson), and that's probably because I was/am a Cowboys fan.
