Where is the bottom?

I'm wondering if oil is at a point where it will start depressing the market.

yea oil is sort of the self govener. In fact our fed should use oil futures as a finacial tool instead of interest..... :|

On the over all market, Im still of the opinion that its high right now. In fact I think the entire market is just sitting waiting for a pull back.

The interesting thing is that this probabaly means that the market isnt only ready for a pull back, but a really strong bounce once it does. Im thinking the next 6 weeks. After that will be a ramp up until everyone starts to seriously talk about the debt ceiling.

On the debt ceiling, its all going to be about the election. If Romney wins, the house will pass it with out issue. Market will yawn or go up. If Obama wins the tea baggers will do the same stupid shit they did last time and the market will crash hard untill the pass it...

Should be some good oportunity to make some money.

Faber bugs me. Was he looking in the mirror and primping ? :-)

Euro is for sure. 7 straight months of loss.

America is still having month over month growth, though its slow.

I wonder, those tza srty shorts are 5% up, but stuff is moving so slow. Thought about selling today just for the quick 5%.

My gut says big drop still coming, but I don't know if I see a catalyst.

Drought + low corn yields + mandatory ethanol content (thanks a lot for that) = higher gas prices inbound even without oil going up.

I agree with you on Ethanol. Without crossing the bridge into politics. its a stupid policy. Iowa clearly benifits from this, but almost every single Iowan I know thinks its stupid. I find it interesting that almost none of the crops grown in iowaare for human food consumption.

I saw an an interesting stat the other day which said that only 1% of the US corn crop is sweet corn, and the other 99% is feed corn or for ethanol.

Kinda crazy that only 1% of the corn crop is for (direct) human consumption, because fresh Minnesota Sweet Corn is the bomb diggity. SUCK IT IOWA!

You might be surprised to find that some of that Min sweet corn comes from californa now.

we have some farmers growing sweet corn and such. in fact our cedar rapids farmers market is great. but when your driving and see miles and miles of corn and soybean fields, its mostly feed and industrial.

thats where the money is at right now, but since most people north of the Iowa border cant read, they cant take advantage.

I think the market is gonna either jump or dive today depending on what Bernanke says...but which...Thinking of taking the small amount of TZA money and running. I feel like people will be digging real deep to find a silver lining in what Ben says.

well he really sort of said nothing new. "He would not rule out, further bond purchases."

I guess the next step is the fed meeting in 2 weeks.

Still holding on to the shorts.

Well its still to quiet out there. Yesterday was odd, with the russle 2k jumping against the trend of every other index.

Though it sounds like the only reason the S&P went up is apple. Its strange to me that iPhone rumors and news are the only thing that drive the entire world markets up.....

I guess the next big thing is going to be the jobs report along with news from the ECB again. ADP tomorrow and jobs on Friday. What's it gonna be? Street is looking for 125k.

I don't think we will hear negative from ECB.

Yeah, market is on fire. I just sold a bunch of my AAPL spreads (which is underperforming today), but I still think it goes much higher. I think the market itself may sell off next week, but we've been thinking that for a while. Smile

Well, numbers disappointed. Rate. Foes down to 8.1 but the numbers do not look great.

However the market not taking a hit thatwould be expected. I guess because everyone is anticipating QE3.

Pretty drastic difference between the Fed and ADP reports. Is it always that far off?

Too many games to fit in signature....

Sometimes, but in general they usually track pretty close. I really expected a big number after yesterday. What we ended up getting is what I had expected prior to ADP.

The market bounced off resistance, which should be bullish, but we'll see how tomorrow goes. I think news still trumps fundamentals.

You guys need to join the Purge stock trading game on Investopedia so you try the giant TNA/TZA trades that are too scary in real life.
