There's a facebook thing going around that I thought was amusing. It's time to get your Nerd on.
Pick a team of 5 people to save the world. Any character from any TV show or movie.
The threat to the world is non-specific, other than it needs to be "saved". Since we're using TV and movie characters, possible threats include but are not limited to:
Zombies, aliens, inter-dimensional portals, supervillains, earthquakes, global warming, the rise of the machines (possibly via AI, possibly via mysterious comet that brings machines to life), plagues (which may or may not turn everyone into fast moving zombies), Hellgates, asteroids, extraordinary solar activity or Al Gore.
The world needs saving! We're not sure as to the exact nature of the incoming threat! Pick your team.
My team:
Conan the Barbarian
John Rambo
Leon (The Professional)
Batman
Optimus Prime
My reasoning:
Conan and Rambo are versatile and nearly impossible to kill. They can create havoc behind any enemy lines. Conan is also familiar with combat versus demons and he's shown some resistance to magic. Also, they're both something like "Chaotic Neutral" and if saving the world involves killing millions of invaders, they'd probably do what has to be done.
Leon is there because I think every team needs 1 good assassin. If it was, say, an invasion by an army, Leon could probably just go assassinate the leader. Like Rambo and Conan, he's also hard to kill (and if he does die, he'll take the enemy leader with him).
Batman because he can find the weakness of any enemy. Superman? Kryptonite. The Joker? Batman figures out all his riddles. Poison gas? Antidote. Sharks? Shark repellent. From aliens to zombies to supervillains to invading armies, I think Batman has your solution. Also, he's super rich, in case saving the world requires some vast amount of wealth.
Optimus Prime for the technological edge against any potential sci-fi invaders or astronomical threats. He may not personally be the most powerful Autobot but with him on your team you can probably come up with a solution to anything that's too far advanced for the other 4.
Dustie claims Superman should head up any team, but I say his weakness to kryptonite and his love for Louis Lane are critical flaws which an enemy could too easily exploit.
