If it lasts longer than that I highly doubt they will follow seasons based on books anymore - they aren't going to want to cut characters out of entire series. TV Audiences who havent read the books whine about how hard it is to remember characters names, how bad would it be after a few seasons?
Not to mention in the 8 or 9 seasons this would likely take to do (assuming they dont get more money and run more eps per season), the kids are going to get waaay too old.
Shinigami Wrote:I have only read one of the books but hope to eventually get to them all. I hope we see more battles as the season progresses because the political intrigue and character development set the stage for crescendos and eventually a finale.
There are battles but they rarely are really a crescendo but rather to set the stage for the next batch of political intrigue. Its basically the opposite of LOTR, instead of having horribly written characters as an excuse to have big fight scenes, the big fight scenes in the book are to move characters forward (or in the ground as is often the case).
I wont mind if the TV cuts battles like the end of the first season to save enough money for the important shit. Obviously the big fight at the end of this season will have to get some love. Hopefully not so much that they can't afford to do what they need to though - we have Michael Bay films for that shit.
