You can easily "whitelist" stuff with the Google bar.
So far the only thing it's blocked that I wanted was a popup from pizzahut.com telling me my pizza order had been recieved.
One click put pizzahut.com on the whitelist and my box came up.
I mainly love it because shortly after installing it at home, someone sent me a link to this site that has all these old PC games on it (e.g., Empire Deluxe), most of which are free to download now. Unfortunately, the site subscribes to the "OMGWTF" school of web advertisements and would have been too annoying to use if not for a popup blocker.
For a while even CNN.com was using popups. Like goddamn, I refuse to click on a popup even if it's something I'm interested in, just out of spite. I wish more places would do like penny-arcade.com, where they only take ads that fall within specific parameters of not-being-annoying.
